The Status of Maternal Care in Southeastern Pennsylvania

There is an alarming trend of diminishing birthing options for pregnant women in Southeastern Pennsylvania. In the last 11 years, 18 hospital obstetrics units have closed!

In addition to prenatal care, closing obstetrics units pose problems for childbearing women. Jeanes Hospital in Northeast Philadelphia is the most recent OB unit closure.
