MCC's Childbirth at a Crossroads report (2006) reviews the regional availability of prenatal and obstetric services and health disparities in maternity care. Five major findings affecting maternal health were identified: a diverse population; lack of access to care; a loss of practitioners and hospitals, inequities in health outcomes, and lack of cultural supports.
