August 2, 2005 - World Breastfeeding Week provided the perfect backdrop for a press conference on breastfeeding co-hosted by Maternity Care Coalition and Pennsylvania State Senator Connie Williams. Senator Williams began the conference by announcing legislation she is introducing both to support breastfeeding and to assist employers in supporting their breastfeeding employees.

Maternity Care Coalition's Executive Director, JoAnne Fischer, spoke about MCC's participation in the National Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign including efforts to disseminate "Breastfeeding Welcome Here" decals among local businesses who pledge to support breastfeeding in their establishments.
