Maternity Care Coalition and
The National Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign

Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) was a part of the sixteen community-based Demonstration Project Sites in the United States and Puerto Rico working with the Office of Women's Health, Department of Health and Human Services, and The Ad Council to maximize the impact of the National Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign at the local level.

The campaign sites attempted to build self-efficacy by working to educate women about the benefits of breastfeeding, empower them to choose to breastfeed, and create awareness that breastfeeding is normal, desireable, and achievable.

MCC's goal as a project site was to provide breastfeeding information and resources to women and families in the Delaware Valley and across Pennsylvania. MCC is especially working to support women who traditionally would not choose to breastfeed, and African-American women.
