Celebrating Mothers 2007 Co-Chairs

With the help of 2007 Co-Chairs Diane Croce and Carolyn Smith, MCC kicked off Celebrating Mothers at our annual Flowers, Tea and MCC event on March 10th at the Liberty Ballroom of the Philadelphia Marriott.

     In what has become a springtime tradition, the Tea was held in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Philadelphia Flower Show. The now four-year-old event has continued to blossom with a sell-out crowd of over 400 guests. MCC supporters enjoyed a selection of teas, sandwiches and sweets while being entertained by Celtic harpist Laura Enuco at the Ireland-themed Tea.

     6ABC News Anchor and former Celebrating Mothers Chair Lisa Thomas Laury spoke of the wonderful work MCC does in the community, which she experienced first hand while producing a feature on Carolyn Smith and how she works with MCC to help young mothers who are clients of the MOMobile. Carolyn and Lisa also visited MCC’s Early Head Start program at Montgomery Early Learning Center in Norristown. Lisa showed the segment "Will Smith's Mom Makes a Difference" and then presented Carolyn with an MCC Volunteer Recognition award.

     Guests were treated to a floral demonstration by artistic visionary Brian Kappra of Evantine Design and several lucky winners brought home Brian’s beautiful creations -- during a lively auction conducted by Diane Croce -- with two high bidders winning week long stays at an Irish cottage by the sea. Guests also received tickets to the Philly’s Flower Show – and took a journey to the “Legends of Ireland.”
