Celebrating Mothers 2004 Highlights

Teamwork
Sports Moms Lead the Way in "Celebrating Mothers 2004"

Andrea Thome hit a grand slam for families in our community. As Honorary Chairperson of Celebrating Mothers 2004 - Andrea was the leadoff hitter in an all-star lineup of "sports moms" including Diane Croce and DeShawn Snow. The 2004 annual appeal was a tremendous success thanks to the support of Citizens Bank, Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia 76ers. MCC's largest fundraiser of the year broke past season records, thanks to the commitment of our championship team of dedicated volunteers and generous donors!

The 2004 campaign went into extra innings with a benefit at a Philadelphia Phillies game called "Mystery Ball" at Citizens Bank Park. During the game, Phillies' wives sold signed (wrapped) baseballs and fans were surprised by the player's autograph they received.

The "Mystery Ball" promotion led off the top of the 2nd inning, with our Celebrating Mothers PSA airing on fan-o-vision to a crowd of over 45,000. Jim Thome hit a home run in the bottom of the 8th to seal the 4-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves -- and our sensational Chair, Andrea - tallied more RBIs for moms and babies.

Hats off to Andrea, Jim and daughter Lila, the Philadelphia Phillies and Citizens Bank for giving MCC fans something to cheer about - our most successful campaign ever!

The "Mystery Ball" event was the most successful ever, raising $20,000 for MCC. The generous donation was presented by (L to R) Phillies Director of Community Relations Gene Dias, along with Phillies' wives Sarah Madson, Abigail Kerrigan, Andrea Thome and of course - the Phillie Phanatic. JoAnne Fischer and Michelle Allen represented MCC.

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's Philadelphia Flower Show was the site of a season opening "pep-rally." Kremp Florist provided a fabulous floral demonstration during an afternoon tea - and a few lucky guests took the beautiful arrangements home.
