The MOMobile at Riverside is a support program for women in prison who are pregnant or mothers of very young children. With an office located at Philadelphia’s Riverside Correctional Facility, MCC staff members provide:
- Educational peer support groups for pregnant women
- Educational peer support groups for women with children under the age of 2
- Case management beginning during incarceration and continuing for up to one year after a participant returns to her family and community.
The overarching goal of MOMobile at Riverside is to improve the health of pregnant and postpartum incarcerated women and their babies, and to help women acquire the resources, understanding and parenting skills they need to establish healthy families as they make the transition from prison to home.
To support this new program, MCC was one of 12 organizations selected, from 219 very strong applicants, for a matching grant from one of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundations (RWJF)’s most highly competitive annual grantmaking programs, the Local Initiative Funding Partners (LIFP).
